Smith takes maiden Cup victory

Regan Smith secured his first race victory in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series by gambling on strategy and then fending off a huge challenge from Carl Edwards at Darlington on Saturday night. Edwards looked set for the win after overtaking long-time leader Kasey Kahne with 27 laps to go and then pulling away. But a yellow 10 laps from the end saw Smith, Brad Keselowski and Tony Stewart stay out and move to the front as the rest of the field pitted.
